About Me.....
I grew up in a small town in upstate NY, knowing that I was going to work on poverty issues. My mother's family is from Ghana and my father has worked in West Africa my entire life. I grew up traveling throughout West Africa and from an early age saw the affects of poverty in the lives of many people. At the age of ten I didn't understand why some people were unable to provide for themselves, and 19 years later I still don't fully understand. The difference now is that I am doing something about it. I created a social enterprise, Shea Yeleen International, that helps women in rural communities of West Africa generate income for themselves through the production and sale of high quality natural shea butter. My vision is to help these women become leaders in the natural body care industry while educating U.S. consumers on the benefits of shea butter, and the importance of supporting small scale producers.

I consider myself a woman who appreciates life, is willing to fight for what I believe in, and tries my best to treat everyone with love and respect. I know I am a work in progress and I do the best I can with the knowledge that I can learn from my mistakes.

What and/or who inspires you the most?
Stories of people who against all odds made it. People like my Mother, Harriet Tubman, Dr. Martin Luther King, Susan B. Anthony, show me that I can accomplish anything I believe in. Their experiences prove that we all have a responsibility to make a positive difference regardless of how small.
What I Love About Myself Is......
My Booty!! JK...I love my spirit, I have discovered that regardless of what does or doesn't happen in life I have a sweet loving spirit, and no one can take that away. I have a choice to nurture and allow this spirit to grow connect me to others in a positve way.
